Choose How You'll Serve — Three Specializations
Your specialization will start you on the path to providing focused support. We provide three options:
- School Counseling specialization (48 credits)
Help students of all ages get the most out of their education by assessing and finding solutions to common behavioral and learning problems, promoting psychological health, and implementing effective career development planning.
- Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization(60 credits)
Become a clinical mental health counselor and support clients of all ages and cultures as they overcome their emotional health challenges. You'll be prepared to work in government and non-government facilities, private practice, inpatient or outpatient agencies, and community organizations.
- Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialization (60 credits)
Improve the lives of vulnerable populations such as the elderly, veterans, those suffering from chronic illness and disability, and recovering addicts. You'll gain the skills to help connect them with employment opportunities and more.
No matter which specialization you choose, you'll graduate ready to apply for certification and prepared to care for the people who need you most. All three specializations include practicum and internship requirements, ensuring you learn in real-world settings.
Graduate Ready to Get Certified — LPC, CRC
Each of our three specializations is carefully designed to elevate your impact on the community of your choosing, so you can advance your career and prepare for certification in one of the following areas:
- The Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specializations both prepare you to apply for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification and meet the LPC academic requirement for 60 credits.
- The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialization also prepares you to become a Certified Rehabilitative Counselor (CRC)*.
