Sara Bixler, Ph.D.

Professor, Counseling


Sara Bixler, Ph.D., has been with Our Lady of the Lady University for more than 10 years, spending much of that time working in our Education department. Beyond her time with OLLU, Bixler has spent more than 30 years working in the Uvalde Independent School District. During that time, she's held positions including teacher, counselor, elementary principal, and assistant and principal at Uvalde High School prior to becoming assistant superintendent. At present, she works with Rodriguez Elementary in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and is a field supervisor.

Bixler's research interests include improving the rigor of academics for PK–12 students, as well as raising standards for the principal preparation program.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Business Education from the University of Mississippi, Master of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University, and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University–College Station.

Bixler enjoys being with her family and traveling as well as working with PK–12 and university students.
